Cheltenham for Europe

Cheltenham for Europe, one of the European Movement's network of local affiliated groups, has been very active campaigning in their local community.

In 2023, Cheltenham for Europe organised a street stall during the first weekend of the Cheltenham Literature Festival. They engaged with passers by and handed out leaflets with information about why the UK needs to be back at the heart of Europe.

They organised a Brexitometer, which showed disillusionment with Brexit, and with the majority of people wanting to improve relations with our European neighbours - with the aim of re-joining.

In September 2023, they organised a stall at the Fresher's Fair of the University of Gloucestershire. They received an overwhelmingly positive reception from the students, with lots of engagement from those attending the Fair.

Most of the students attending the Fair were too young to vote in the Referendum, but many agree that it is their generation that will bear the brunt of Brexit. The group were particularly pleased that a number of students decided to help set up a European Affairs society at the University following interaction with them.

Finally, for Europe day, they organised a picnic in collaboration with Tewkesbury for Europe, which celebrated their pro-European identity and brought together pro-Europeans from across their local area.

They will continue to campaign in the local community to change hearts and minds, and to show everybody why the UK needs to be back at the heart of Europe.
